Team   Leader:   Prof.   Chiara   Petrioli

Chiara Petrioli is the Director of the SENSES Lab. She is Associate Professor at the Computer Science Department at Rome University "La Sapienza." She has received the Laurea Degree in Computer Science with the highest honors (1993) and the Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Rome University "La Sapienza," Italy (1998). Her research interests focus on the design, evaluation and test of novel telecommunications systems, with major contributions in the field of energy efficient communications, terrestrial and underwater sensor networks, mobile communications, QoS support in Internet. Prof. Petrioli is member of the steering committee and associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, member of the steering committee of ACM SENSYS, has been member of the executive committee of ACM SIGMOBILE, and has been Program co-chair of leading conferences in the field such as ACM MobiCom and IEEE SECON. She has published over seven dozens papers in prominent international journals and conferences (h-index 22, g-index:41, over 1950 citations). She is member of "La Sapienza" spinoff committee, and regularly serves as reviewer for the European Commission. Prof. Petrioli was a Fulbright scholar and is a senior member of IEEE.

Loreto   Pescosolido

Loreto Pescosolido received the MS degree in 2003 and the Ph. D. degree from University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 2008. He currently holds a postdoc position at the Computer Science Department of the same university. His research interests lie in the fields of cooperative communications, distributed algorithms and protocols for wireless sensor networks, underwater acoustic sensor networks, and cognitive radio networking. He has been special-session co-chair for the 5th International Conference on Cognitive Radio Oriented Wireless Networks and Communications (CROWNCOM 2010). He has worked in different projects funded by the european community: ROMANTIK, SURFACE, and FREEDOM, SENDORA, covering research topics related to wireless communications; WINSOC, CLAM (currently on-going) and GENESI (currently on-going) on wireless terrestrial and underwater acoustic sensor networks.

Donatella   Ermini

Donatella Ermini received the M.S. degree in 2006 and Ph.D. degree in 2011 from University of Pisa, Italy. Her recent research is on MAC protocols for dynamic spectrum access and cognitive radio networks, with particular emphasis on cross-layer approach. She also has background on traffic scheduling algorithms in OFDMA systems, and real-time traffic scheduling in WiMAX networks. In 2004 she has been a contract holder at the University of Perugia, Italy, working on e-learning and virtual reality applications. In 2007, she joined the Internet Services Technology Centre at the National Research Council (CNR) in Pisa, Italy, as a co-leader of the “PEC – Posta Elettronica Certificata” project. She has been a visiting scholar researcher in 2010 at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University at Buffalo, SUNY, USA. She is a member of the SENSES Lab at the University of Rome "La sapienza", Italy, as a postdoctoral research fellow.

Alessandro   Cammarano

Alessandro Cammarano received the laurea degree with the highest honors in Computer Science in 2010 from the University of Rome La Sapienza. He is currently a second year PhD student at the Computer Science Department of the same University, and member of the SENSES (Sensor network and embedded systems) laboratory. His research interests focus on wireless sensor networks design, cognitive radio networks, energy harvesting wireless sensor networks and energy prediction models. Dott. Cammarano has been a member of La Sapienza team within the FP7 project SENDORA, in which he has designed, evaluated and simulated a complete solution for wireless sensor networks for spectrum monitoring.
